Satpara Lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes in Pakistan at a distance of 9 km from the Skardu city in Gilgit-Baltistan. It supplies the drinking and agricultural water for the Skardu City. Tourist can enjoy the trout fishing and boating at the lake. It takes about 20 minutes by jeep to reach here from the Skardu City. One hour jeep drive from this lake takes the visitor to the world's second highest paeataue known as "Deosai Plains"
This lake is fed by the Satpara Stream which actually has its origination in Deosai Plains. A dam has been constructed on this lake named, Satpara Dam to fulfill the agricultural water requirement of the Skardu City. There is a small island in the mid of the lake fully surrounded by the water and a "PTDC Motel" on side but it is said that after completion of the dam the island and the Motel would be drowned in water.
